A 60-second video introduction script for job applications
A short video introduction can help an employer connect a name to a person. Here is a five-part script you can adapt in a few minutes. Speaking at a normal pace, about 110 words takes roughly 45 seconds.
The five parts
- Greeting (5 seconds): "Hello, I'm [name], and I'm applying for the [role] at [company]."
- Your fit (10 seconds): one sentence on your background that matches the role.
- Two strengths with proof (20 seconds): name two skills from the job ad, each with a quick example.
- Why this company (10 seconds): one honest, specific reason you want this job.
- Close (5 seconds): thank them and say you'd welcome a conversation.
Recording tips
- Face a window or lamp so your face is lit evenly, and look at the camera lens.
- Use a quiet room and a tidy background, or blur it.
- Speak naturally from notes. Don't read word for word.
- Record a fresh video for each application where it matters.
